LOS ANGELES - The City of Los Angeles’ Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department (LA Civil Rights for short) launched anti-hate posters and social media graphics in Hebrew today, with resources for reporting hate crimes and hate incidents in LA.

The Hebrew-language posters are part of the LA for All campaign, an ad campaign launched by LA Civil Rights in May of this year, which combines local artwork with resources for reporting hate and imessages of belonging in 15 languages. The ad campaign is currently running on over 4,000 ad spaces across LA, including street banners, city parks, outside the LA Convention Center, on Metro bus & rail, LA Sanitation vehicles, and more.

“Everything we do at LA Civil Rights is rooted in inclusion and love for all of Los Angeles, and the LA for All campaign is a call to all Angelenos to challenge their bias and to join us in this mission,” said Capri Maddox, Executive Director of the Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department (LA Civil Rights). “We know that anti-Semitism is on the rise, and the fear already felt by the community is heightened as Rosh Hashanah approaches. We want to make it absolutely clear that LA is for Everyone, and LA protects and stands with its Jewish communities."

“As Councilmember for the Fifth District, which has deep roots for the Jewish community, I want to make sure that all Jewish people know the rights and resources they have when facing hate. According to the Anti-Defamation League’s annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents, 2019 and 2020 were, respectively, the highest and third-highest years on record for cases of harassment, vandalism, and assault against Jews in the United States since tracking began in 1979. These numbers are shocking and heartbreaking, but they are also a call to action. I am proud to join LA Civil Rights in distributing an anti-hate message in Hebrew to clearly represent Los Angeles’ robust Jewish community, and to empower both witnesses and victims of hate incidents and hate crimes.”

The 11x17” posters can be requested from the city at no cost to a business or organization looking to display the anti-hate campaign in a public area or storefront window. LA for All posters can be requested at bit.ly/LAforAllPosters or by contacting the office of Councilmember Paul Koretz. Social media graphics can be downloaded at civilandhumanrights.lacity.org/laforall/thecampaign or by clicking here.

The posters read “LA is for Everyone” and encourage readers to call 311 or 211 if they witness a hate incident, 911 if they see a crime in progress, and to visit CivilAndHumanRights.LAcity.org/LAforAll for more information and resources.

Languages in the LA for All campaign include: Spanish, Korean, Armenian, Chinese, Tagalog, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Khmer, Hebrew, Hindi, Farsi, Russian, Amharic, and Tigrinya.
