Abigail Tapang Zelenski is an attorney and the founder of Zelenski Law, PC, providing legal representation, advice, and counsel with respect to employment-law matters. She has successfully represented clients in matters involving a wide variety of causes of action, such as harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, unpaid wages, unpaid overtime, missed meal and rest breaks, improper pay stubs, and misclassification issues. Throughout her career, Abigail has been appointed as class counsel in over forty class actions, recovering millions on behalf of employees, including those in the motion-picture, security, healthcare, food, retail, and banking industries, as well as on behalf of the State of California Labor and Workforce Development Agency.

 

Believing the importance of community involvement, Abigail served on the Governing Board of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council from 2012 to 2014. She was the past Vice President and a Board Member of the Filipino American Library and Filipino American Heritage Institute, from 2001 to 2008, which organizations worked to promote the history, culture, and professional achievements of Filipinos and Filipino Americans through book collection and preservation, leadership development, and cultural programming. She currently sits on the Board of the non-profit organization Search to Involve Pilipino Americans, which provides various services to youths, seniors, and small-business owners in the Los Angeles community, and Abigail continues to lend active support to the organization. She has served on the Board of Governors of the Philippine American Bar Association, the largest local association of Filipino American attorneys in the United States, since 2016, and has held several roles on its Executive Board, including President in 2021 and Chair in 2022.

 

Abigail earned her J.D. at the UCLA School of Law, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Southern California, magna cum laude, with a B.A. in Political Science and academic minors in Business Administration and Law & Society.

 

In 2019, Abigail was appointed by Mayor Eric Garcetti, and confirmed by Los Angeles City Council to serve as a Commissioner on the inaugural Civil and Human Rights Commission.
