"The message I wanted to get across is that Los Angeles is a great place to live, a city where our communities care for one another, and embrace the sense of unity. When people view my piece, I want them to see Los Angeles in the best way possible, at its very core. I wanted to incorporate the aspects of various designs of Mural Graffiti to demonstrate how much of it we see around our city, created by people within our community to spread art and positive messages to others. Including aspects of the Santa Monica beach and the pier was a necessity, since it is one of the first things that come to mind when I think about Los Angeles. Amongst the graffiti designs and the beach, I felt I had to include the aspect of famous basketball Lakers player Kobe Bryant, since he is one of the most iconic figures in sports media, as well as one of the greatest representations of Los Angeles history." -- Cesar Gonzalez
