Charlie Rivera was born and raised in Oceanside, California located in San Diego County. She began working with LA Civil Rights as an intern from the University of Southern California in 2021 through USC’s Agents of Change, an undergraduate civil rights advocacy clinic. Since her start in 2021, she has also interned at other organizations around Los Angeles including community-based organization Homies Unidos and non-profit legal service organization Inner City Law Center. Charlie graduated with honors from USC in December 2022 with a bachelor’s in Political Science and a minor in Social Work and Juvenile Justice.

Since graduating, she has remained focus on her commitment to public service and community collaboration. She is currently working full time at Inner City Law Center (ICLC) as an Administrative Clerk. In this role, she communicates directly with clients who are unhoused or at risk of being unhoused to connect them to resources and legal aid. She works at ICLC in addition to LA Civil Rights. At LA Civil Rights, she serves as a Policy & Design Fellow continuing to support the department’s mission through graphic design, social media branding and community outreach. 

Charlie also holds design experience working for USC Dornsife’s Experiential Learning office where she created program announcement posts and edited promotional videos highlighting student experiences. She has also done work in her hometown of Oceanside helping the branding and promotion of local grassroots organizations assisting unhoused individuals.
