Sheldon Cruz is a Senior Human Relations Advocate for the Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department (LA Civil Rights).
Sheldon is a native born Angeleno, born and raised in South Los Angeles. He has over 20 years of experience as a civil servant, he previously served as the Housing Community Investment Department’s liaison to the Affordable Housing Commission where he provided strategic planning, marketing and branding strategies for the department. Sheldon has provided comprehensive programming in some of the most underrepresented and underserved communities in Los Angeles including Watts, South LA, Venice and Boyle Heights. Mr. Cruz is very passionate about youth and community engagement and strives to assure that youth and Angelinos are empowered and engaged in the civic process at the local, state and federal government levels. In fact, Mr. Cruz received a Presidential Greeting from President Barack Obama in 2016 for a civic and experiential learning youth development initiative that he directed known as the City of Los Angeles Youth Ambassadors Cohort.
